WP 6 - Risk assessment and implementation
The work package 6 (WP 6) focuses on developing and implementing a probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) approach in the ONTOX project.
WP 6 focuses on developing and implementing a probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) approach, with two main objectives. First, WP 6 aims to create probabilistic models for external exposure that integrate closely with WP 4’s kinetic modelling for internal exposure, followed by applying Threshold of Toxicological Concern (TTC) and probabilistic tools for exposure prediction (both external and internal), hazard prediction, and risk assessment, including AI-driven tools developed by WP 5. Second, WP 6 seeks to engage industrial and regulatory stakeholders to discuss needs, establish confidence, and collaboratively define roadmaps for implementing New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and Next Generation Risk Assessment (NGRA).
By developing real-life data and case studies on data-rich and data-poor chemicals in collaboration with regulatory authorities, WP 6 aims to validate and build confidence in the ONTOX AI-supported PRA approach (OPRA). Finally, WP 6 will publish the findings in a report for the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
